What’s In My Pockets?

Today I’m answering everyone’s burning question…. What do I keep in my Housedress pockets?? Probably a lot of what any sensible independent woman would.

Let me break it down for you:

1.     Lip balm. I have fully conditioned my lips to when not lathered entirely with Vaseline they are dry as the Sahara, so I can’t leave the house without at least two tubes of lip balm. My current favorite is Glossier’s Balm Dotcom, in literally any flavor. I have tubes of this in every corner of my house. I’m pretty sure I even have lost tubes of Dotcom all over my house. I just keep buying three-packs over and over again. You can tell how long I’ve been using one by how rubbed off the packaging is. This one in particular has a little shimmer in it which I love. Get a tube at Glossier.com for $12 or a three-pack for $30.

2.     Hand lotion. Even before the constant scrubbing of covid, I carried little lotions with me everywhere. They are like little sips of water for my hands throughout the day. I absolutely hate seeing dry skin in between my fingers… am I the only one?? I buy in bulk at Costco and definitely take all the tubes I can get my hands on whenever I am staying in a hotel.

3.     Hair tie. Can’t do much in a Housedress that doesn’t require you to tie your hair back at least half way up. We work too hard to have hair constantly in our face!

4.     Cell phone. I am so guilty of being glued to my phone…. Good thing TIMH pockets are large enough to fit your Pro, Android, and even a mini tablet :) Not exactly at the same time tho.

5.     Matches. I need to take a scent journey throughout my house, lighting a different candle in every single room as I enter. I like the candles that smell summery in the summer, Halloween-y in the autumn, and like Santa’s butthole in the winter. In the kitchen I like food-scented candles, ones that smell like you are baking inside the birthday cake or drowning in pink mimosas. Yes, please!

6.     TIMH stickers. Duh! You never know who you’ll meet who might need to get Housedressed.

7.     My lucky $2 bill. I went to a flea market a few years ago that had an $8 entry fee. I paid the fee with a $10 bill and the woman gave me a $2 bill for change. Maybe the wow-factor of a $2 bill has died down in the 2020s, but I was thrilled. I haven’t let it go since and am convinced it is a lucky bill.

8. Other bits and bobs include, at any given time: garlic cloves, ketchup packets, bobby pins, more tubes of chapstick, sunglasses, napkins, keys to my storage unit, and this guy:
