About TIMH

Founded in 2021 by designer Maddie Bing, This Is My Housedress is a brand on a mission to bring back the classic housedress, just like Maddie's Italian nonna used to wear. What started as a quarantine experiment with a pair of old curtains has grown into a modern movement that embodies comfort, practicality, and style. Oh, and of course, extra-large pockets.

Maddie designs unique, well-made housedresses that are a full outfit in one piece. Made with better fabrics, thoughtful details, and huge pockets that actually make the flow of your day easier, it’s for women who feel overwhelmed and want to romanticize their days with something easy, comforting, and put together.

It's tapping into that nostalgic feeling of being taken care of while you're taking care of everything else.

The Housedress Lore

In 2020, when life slowed down, Maddie found herself craving simplicity... but sweatpants weren't the answer. She was tired of wearing the same lazy sweats every day, and was determined to stay positive by romanticizing her daily quarantined life. Inspired by childhood memories of her grandma stirring tomato sauce in a housedress, Maddie created her own version from a pair of old curtains. She added giant pockets for essentials like dish towels and eyeglasses, and soon, people started asking about her charming creation.

Her reply? “This is my housedress!” (while shooting her hands straight into the pockets.)

And just like that, a beloved brand was born.

But it wasn't until 2021 that Maddie manufactured her first batch of housedresses in downtown Los Angeles, making only 50 dresses total. From there the brand grew and grew, and today the housedresses are manufactured in a larger scale in China, the US, and with plans to expand into Portugal.
